The story of Viña Morandé’s sparkling wines embodies the innovative and bold spirit that has characterized the winery from the start. Over 40 years ago, Pablo Morandé took a gamble on the then-unknown Casablanca Valley, laying the foundation for what is today one of Chile’s most prestigious wineries. In the case of sparkling wines, that same audacity translated into a vision to produce Chile’s best sparkling wines, with a quality and tradition that has become stronger over time.
More than 17 years ago, motivated by the quality of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from Casablanca, Pablo Morandé decided to embark on creating sparkling wines using the traditional method, with the goal of making a bubbly wine on par with the finest champagnes. Thus, Blanc de Noir was born—a refined, delicious sparkling wine with fine, persistent bubbles that quickly became a luxury within Chile’s sparkling wine market. Made with Pinot Noir, this wine is aged for 24 to 54 months, allowing a second fermentation in the bottle that imparts a creamy texture and unparalleled complexity.
However, Morandé didn’t settle for just one type of sparkling wine. The desire to diversify and explore new options led the winery to experiment with País, a historic and rustic grape variety that has been part of Chilean viticulture since colonial times. From this variety, Brut K.O. emerged, a sparkling wine with only six months of aging, with a more direct and accessible profile. With Brut K.O., the aim was to offer a fresh and straightforward option, yet with the same quality that characterizes the traditional method sparkling wines. This wine offers small, well-integrated bubbles, a result of using the Champenoise method, balancing freshness and elegance.
Brut Nature is another iconic sparkling wine from Morandé. Made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Casablanca, Brut Nature stands out for its structure and elegant balance of flavors. Its sharp bubbles and refreshing qualities make it perfect for celebrations or simply enjoying any special moment.
The sparkling wine portfolio also includes Extra Brut, a 100% Chardonnay sparkling wine from Casablanca, where cool conditions and high temperature variations allow for a slow, controlled grape maturation. Known for its fine, persistent bubbles, Extra Brut has a gradual release of aromas and a dense body balanced with exquisite freshness.
Over the years, Morandé has strengthened its presence in the premium sparkling wine world in Chile, and each bottle is a testament to the oenological excellence achieved through a blend of innovation, tradition, and respect for Chilean viticulture.
