TERROIR WINES: A TRIBUTE TO WINE AND ITS ORIGINS

May 8, 2025 | Wineblog

At Viña Morandé, we believe that every wine should tell the story of the place where it was born. That’s why we created Terroir Wines — a line that celebrates Chile’s geographical diversity through wines that reflect the character and honesty of the terroirs they come from.

Terroir Wines is a collection sourced from the southern valleys of Chile, crafted from century-old vines and using practices that honor the region’s age-old traditions — such as partnerships with small-scale artisanal growers and the use of head-pruned vines. This is a tribute to the past, created through a modern lens, inviting us to discover that “new, ancient Chile” that is emerging with strength and authenticity in every glass.

Each wine is born from a deep connection to its origin: walking the vineyards, understanding their rhythm, vinifying with minimal intervention, and letting the fruit speak for itself. These are wines made with respect for the land and for local customs — wines that authentically express the spirit of the place they come from.

The result is a trio of unique wines, each paying homage to its valley of origin:

Carmenère–Malbec (Maule Valley): Two noble grapes come together in an intense blend, with notes of black fruits, spices, and a round, soft, enveloping mouthfeel.

Cinsault–País (Itata Valley): A true ode to freshness — light to medium-bodied, juicy, vibrant, and fruit-forward. A faithful interpretation of southern Chile’s traditional varieties.

Semillón (Maule Valley): Fresh and crisp, with citrus notes, pear, and a subtle touch of honey. Versatile and balanced — a pure reflection of the Maule terroir where it was born.

Terroir Wines is more than a wine line. It’s a statement of principles. An invitation to rediscover wine from its roots, to listen to what the land has to say. At Viña Morandé, we don’t just make wines — we accompany them, respect them, and allow them to tell their story with honesty.

Because when a wine is born from its place and its soul, every glass becomes a tribute to the terroir.
